I'm Alive

Sorry about the absence this week. Yes, I am still painting my nails. Monday night I put on China Glaze Smoke and Ashes from the Hunger Games collection and it quickly became a favorite of mine. I urge you to go buy it. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture to show you.  I mentioned before that Winter is not kind to my skin. That being stated, I shall inform you that I have eczema. A really icky kind of it on my hands, too.   My dumbass tried to correct the dryness because my knuckles were cracking and it hurt. The dumbass part of this is that I used lotion on my hands. The form of eczema I have really doesn't like lotion. It makes it worse.  So, the last few days I have been soaking my hands in epsom salt (shit burns on my raw fingers and knuckles, yo) trying to dry them back out.  I bought some crazy expensive lotion that actually appears to be helping for once...and by helping, I mean not royally screwing my skin up.  I guess I am destined to buy $15 small bottles of lotion. Damn the man, I say!  There, it is out there. So if you see me wearing tape on my fingers, I'm not bleeding, I'm not contagious, I'm just trying to spare others of unsightly ickies (yes, technical term) and it helps me not to scratch.

Rando Update

Not much to report today..so far.  I have been wearing Essie Armed and Ready all weekend.   I was going to paint something fun last night but my latest haul of polish arrives today and I thought I'd wait until tonight to paint them since my mani from Friday still looks good.  I will upload a picture later today of all my order once it arrives.  This order is super exciting because it has the Hunger Games polishes in it (the ones I wanted anyway, I didn't need to rush out and get a couple of the colors, I could wait on those).  This order also has some Orly polishes (Orly is one of my favoritest brands, yes, I know that isn't a word) along with a backup of Instant Artificials and Seche Vite. I needed to hit the $50 mark for free shipping, plus I had 15% off! Good time to get backups of my base and top coats, right? I thought so.

If only....

If only you could really see the true color of my manicure.  The picture just doesn't do it justice. AT ALL.  I'm wearing 2 coats of IA, 1 coat Orly Bonder, 2 coats Orly Naughty, 1 coat Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black (did not change the color of the Orly Naughty, btw), and one top coat of the amazing Seche Vite.  The picture below is a decent representation but what you miss in real life is how deep the maroon is and the flakies shimmer blood red. Disregard the medical tape on my fingers. Winter is not kind to me and I am taking extreme measures trying to moisturize a couple of my knuckles. I'm talking neosporin and medical tape for a couple hours this morning.

Also, I am not driving, I am sitting in my driveway. Safety first, kiddos!

Ok, so I tried another picture at my desk at work, disregard that medical tape, ha. I should just tell people I am lousy in the kitchen and burn all my fingers all the time.

I haven't loved my nail color this much since I wore Orly Prince Charming for the first time.  Trust me, it might seem like a plain color that doesn't attract attention but it sure caught mine. Over and over and over..

Sunday Boredom

On Sunday (2/19), I decided to paint my nails a pretty pink color. Then I was planning on doing a glitter gradient. This was my first attempt and it looked horrendous.  So, I took the polish and glitter off and decided to go another route. Vibrant blue and black tips. I'm glad I clipped and filed them down, I think it looks very nice and uniform.

This was also my first attempt at using tip guide stickers. If you notice the dots on my index finger, this was not planned. I didn't let my blue dry enough and my first sticker took a chunk out of my blue. Was I going to start over AGAIN? Heck to the no!  I got out a dotting tool, a couple fun colors and went to town covering up that hole. So I am left with my index fingers (had to make the other one match) all dotted up. While I probably won't do index finger dots like this again, it is sort of fun this time around.

Helloooo!

My name is Meesh.   I'm 32.  I am newly addicted to painting my nails. I'm going to use this blog (hopefully) to keep track of my manicures and whatever else I feel like.  With that, I say hello to you.  Until I figure out to even use this thing, it may be quiet around here for a bit.
